<p>The article presents an interdisciplinary study conducted at the intersection of cultural studies and African studies. The work touches upon the problem of values, meanings and cultural codes, which philosophers and cultural scientists define as concentrated information, a set of characteristics that contribute to the identification of culture. The culture of sub-Saharan Africa is a complex of strata associated with both the pre-colonial period of African history and the socio-cultural influences of the colonial period. One of the main strata of African culture is associated with a system of traditional values, with traditional mythological and religious beliefs, with communal forms of life and social communication, with a system of interrelationships with nature and society. This value system was formed in the pre-colonial period, was subjected to unprecedented pressure and discrediting during the colonial period, and is one of the pillars of the African renaissance, the development and construction of its own cultural and civilizational identity. The purpose of the study was to study the features of traditional African musical art in the system of cultural and historical processes that include sub-Saharan Africa. It is concluded that African traditional music fully reflects the specific African value-semantic complexes associated with cultural and historical processes and African traditional values.</p>
<kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>культура</kwd><kwd>Африка южнее Сахары</kwd><kwd>культурные коды</kwd><kwd>ценностно-смысловые комплексы</kwd><kwd>традиции</kwd><kwd>ценности</kwd><kwd>африканская музыка</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>Culture</kwd><kwd>sub-Saharan Africa</kwd><kwd>cultural codes</kwd><kwd>value-semantic complexes</kwd><kwd>traditions</kwd><kwd>values</kwd><kwd>African music</kwd></kwd-group></article-meta></front><back><ref-list><ref id="ref1"><mixed-citation publication-type="other" xml:lang="ru">Барт Р.
