<p>Current trends in the system of international relations lead to the need to revive various forms of educational contacts between Russia and African countries. At the same time, any negotiation requires knowledge of the partner’s cultural characteristics, including the specifics of business cultures, which makes it possible to successfully build intercultural interaction. The discrepancy between social perceptions of a partner’s culture can become a serious problem in international cooperation. The article presents an empirical study of business cultures using the author’s methodology based on the typology of R. Lewis, which includes three types of business cultures (“monoactive”, “polyactive” and “reactive”). The purpose of the study was to study the ideas of Africans about the peculiarities of their own business culture, to study the ideas of Russian cultural negotiators, businessmen and politicians about the business culture of Africans, as well as to identify a gap in these ideas. The study was conducted in several countries in sub–Saharan Africa (SSA) — in South Africa, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Uganda and Senegal. The results obtained indicate a significant discrepancy between these concepts, which could potentially be the cause of a barrier in intercultural communication. Awareness of the specifics of business culture among representatives of African countries, understanding its roots and manifestations is a prerequisite for an effective dialogue based on understanding and respect for the culture of the African side.</p>
<kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>культура</kwd><kwd>Африка южнее Сахары</kwd><kwd>деловая культура</kwd><kwd>колониализм</kwd><kwd>межкультурные коммуникации</kwd><kwd>образование</kwd><kwd>переговоры</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>culture</kwd><kwd>sub-Saharan Africa</kwd><kwd>business culture</kwd><kwd>colonialism</kwd><kwd>intercultural communication</kwd><kwd>education</kwd><kwd>negotiation</kwd></kwd-group></article-meta></front><back><ref-list><ref id="ref1"><mixed-citation publication-type="other" xml:lang="ru">Льюис Р. Д.
