<p>This essay is dedicated to the memory of Lyudmila Grigorievna Kovnatskaya, the author of numerous scientific and archival studies on Shostakovich, and one of the leaders
of the project “Chronicles of the Composer’s Life and Work”. To
date, DSCH has published two volumes of this multi-volume
publication, the first of which, which includes Shostakovich’s biography up to the end of the 1920s [1], reflects one of the most
interesting, creatively active, and still not fully explored periods
of the composer’s life.
This article examines Shostakovich’s contacts with the
members of the LEF (Left Front of the Arts) during his work on
the production of Vladimir Mayakovsky’s play “The Bug”, describes the composition of the association and its continuity
with the Futurists, and highlights the political component of the
LEF ideology, which ensured the alliance between its supporters
and the authorities. The author also discusses the fate of “leftist art”, which was ostracized at the turn of the next decade and
declared “bourgeois”. The works of the young Shostakovich, particularly his ballets and early symphonies, were also affected by
these conflicts.
The article provides a context for the composer’s work during this period, including his involvement in the TAM (Theater
of Working Youth) and his interactions with directors such as
Vsevolod Meyerhold and Ivan Terentyev. It also highlights parallels with the poets of the OBERIU (Union of Real Art).</p>
<kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>20‑е годы XX века</kwd><kwd>Левый фронт искусств</kwd><kwd>конструктивизм</kwd><kwd>футуризм</kwd><kwd>революционный миф</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>1920s</kwd><kwd>Left Front of the Arts</kwd><kwd>Constructivism</kwd><kwd>Futurism, Revolutionary Myth</kwd></kwd-group></article-meta></front><back><ref-list><ref id="ref1"><mixed-citation publication-type="other" xml:lang="ru">Летопись жизни и творчества Шостаковича: в 5 томах / отв. ред.
